Virus Breeze Crochet Top Pattern UK Terms
Welcome to my Virus Breeze Top pattern…
The timeless beauty of the Virus stitch pattern has been a favourite in my crochet journey for many years.
After creating countless shawls—and more recently a poncho—I began to see even more potential in those flowing, lace-like details. This design is a natural progression, transforming that much-loved stitch pattern into a wearable top using thoughtfully placed motifs.
Combined with the classic Granny Stitch, this design becomes a celebration of two crochet favourites—full of history, texture, creativity, and joy.
Each motif captures the signature movement and elegance of the Virus design, working beautifully alongside the timeless simplicity of the Granny Stitch. Together, they create a garment that feels light, breathable, and effortlessly stylish.
With its relaxed drape and versatile style, this top is perfect for layering across the seasons—cool and comfortable in warmer weather, or paired beautifully over your favourite pieces when it’s cooler.
Whether you’re already a fan of the Virus stitch or discovering it for the first time, this pattern offers a fresh, modern way to enjoy two classic crochet designs in one wearable piece.

Pattern Construction
- Create 2 Squares for the Bodice and 2 Rectangles for the Sleeves, squaring off only 3 sides of each motif.
- The Bodice Squares and Sleeve Rectangles are then joined together following the step-by-step guide to create the relaxed, flowing shape of the top.
- To finish, a continuation of the beautiful yet simple virus pattern border is added along the lower edge to provide extra length, frame the design, and help the Top hold its shape beautifully.
Gauge Swatch
This is not necessary for this pattern. You want a soft and flowing finish so if you have a tight tension when you crochet please use a slightly larger hook.
