Welcome to my “Scrappy Christmas Gnome” Pattern!
I designed this cheerful little gnome as a fun way to use up leftover yarn from past projects—and of course, I couldn’t resist making a festive Christmas version too! 🎄 Whether you're going traditional or going bold with colour, this gnome is all about personality and play.
You can change colours at any point (even mid-row!) to add character. Just be sure to keep track of your row counts. The only sewing involved is when you close the top and attach the holly and berries. Otherwise, it’s a smooth ride from the base upward. One tip: make the nose first so it’s ready when you need it.
Have fun and see just how funky and festive your Scrappy Gnome can be. The scrappier, the better I say!

Skill Level: Confident Beginner
Finished Size: Approx. 24cm tall using 10 ply yarn (size will vary depending on yarn weight)
🧶 You’ll Need:
Hook size recommendations:
10ply – 4mm
8ply – 2.5–3mm
5ply – 2–2.75mm
Yarn needle & stuffing
Weighting material: Approx. 500g jasmine rice, fish tank rocks or buckwheat (adjust for smaller gnomes)
Organza bags (2): Around 12 x 18 cm to contain the weighted filling
Yarn:
For the Christmas version, I used Fiddlesticks Finch 10ply cotton (71g / 109m per ball), 3 balls in 3 festive colours.
